CMS Websites have this software installed onto them, allowing the user to log into the website through the web browser and dynamically add and edit pages, content, images, videos, flash media, and many other dynamic elements. The most important aspect of a Content Management System is that it saves time by dynamically creating the elements that are displayed on a web page and reducing the need to write additional code. There are several different CMS systems that can be used to build dynamic websites, some of these include: DotNetNuke, Drupal, Joomla, Plone, and Wordpress.
Building a CMS WebsiteOnce a Content Management System has been installed onto a website. There are several steps that need to be taken before the CMS Website can be edited by the common user. First, a design, or skin, needs to be created, coded, and installed on the website. Next, pages need to be added to the website, modules need to be added to the web pages, and content needs to be added into the modules. At Enversa, we build custom CMS Websites, and we make sure that every technical aspect is in full working order with the highest development standards so your website loads quickly, navigates efficiently, and all forms and other elements are fully functional. CMS SkinsAt Enversa, we create customized CMS skins for our clients websites. The skin will consist of graphics, including your company logo, company colors, and overall design of the site. The skin is the most important aspect of the CMS website because it will determine how the website appears to the consumer. The skin will consist of a Menu Navigation that will be coded using CSS and HTML, the menu navigation will be a dynamic part of the website, meaning that when you add pages, they will automatically display in the menu navigation without the need to add code. The skin will also consist of panes, or areas of the site where modules can be added. The website can consist of a single skin, or multiple skins, depending on the specific needs. Some more advanced websites may need several different skins for different web pages. ModulesModules are elements of the CMS that allow for different kinds of content and dynamic features to be added to the website. The most common is the text/html module. This module is a very basic content placeholder that is added to a webpage, and allows for the user to have an easy method for adding text to the webpage. The text/html module consists of two parts, the rich text editor and the html source editor. The rich text editor also known as the WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get), is much like a common word processing program. The user can copy/paste or type the text directly into it. The html source editor is for the more advanced user and allows them to edit the source code that is contained within the module. The text/html editor can also be used to upload images to the website and add them into the content of the web page. There are other modules that are used to add other dynamic elements, such as maps, image galleries, flash media, website analytics, and much, much more. Module settings can be changed in several ways. For example, it can be set to only display on the one page, or to automatically display on every single page of the website.
